A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Poverty exists in Dubois County, it just looks a little different than what we typically think poverty looks like. It hides. In the back corners of the county, in pay-by-the-week hotels and broken down apartment complexes, lay some of Dubois County’s hardest hit families. They live here. And they work here. But they struggle.
Who we are
Habitat for Humanity of Dubois County was started in 1995 as an extension of Habitat for Humanity International to eliminate substandard housing in Dubois County. We are a non-profit Christian housing ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter should be a matter of conscience and action for all. We mobilize funds, materials, and volunteer labor to construct houses in partnership with low-income families. These houses are sold to these partner families at no profit to habitat and are financed through no interest mortgage held by Habitat. Through the ongoing support of our community through volunteers and donors, we are continuing our mission to eliminate substandard housing within our own community. This is a joint effort between Habitat and its community, and we are continuously blessed by the caring and concerned neighbors of Dubois County. We thank you for your outpouring of support and love for your fellow neighbors, and we look forward to many more homes and families in our future.
